Odisha board Class 10 matric exams will be held from Feb 26 (representative image/ file)To prevent paper leak and to ensure safety of question papers, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has decided to introduce a digital lock system for transportation of questions for the forthcoming matriculation examination starting from February 26.
According to board officials, the system will be tested during the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) scheduled for January 17 and subsequently used for the matriculation examination.
Tin boxes carrying board exam question papers will be equipped with password-protected digital locks and GPS tracking during transportation of question paper from the board office to the nodal centres.
BSE vice president Nihar Ranjan Mohanty said the digital lock can be opened in three ways— centrally from board office, through passwords and via chips which will be with special messengers—at designated centres.
“Any attempt for tempering will trigger alert at the BSE control room. Strict action will be taken for any unauthorized tampering,” Mohanty told reporters.
Amid reports of question paper going viral on internet, the BSE said they have planned to introduce water-marked and QR-code-enabled question papers in the class-10th examination. Each paper will be marked with distinctive identifiers like examination centre, candidate’s information and others which will help officials to detect in case of question paper leak.
