Last semester exam for Class XI in Gujarat: 106 students to appear in exam starting tomorrow

The students will be appearing in three media — English, Gujarati and Hindi.

BEFORE THE semester system for Class XI and XII Science stream becomes history in Gujarat, as it has been replaced by the annual system, 106 students (repeaters) will appear for the last semester system examination for Class XI Science stream, starting on Friday. The students will be appearing in three media — English (53), Gujarati (50) and Hindi (3).

What Else Is Making News?

 

Among various subjects, most students would take exam for English subject (17), followed by computer science (15) and mathematics (11).

“After the withdrawal of semester system, at the beginning of the academic session, this is the last semester examination for Class XI conducted by the state education board,” said Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board deputy chairman R R Thakkar.

Five years after the implementation of the semester system in classes XI and XII Science stream in the academic session June 2011-12, it was scrapped by the state government on June 6,2016, with immediate effect.

The state government announced that the decision was taken in response to repeated requests of scrapping the semester system from parents, education institutions, organisations, educationists and students and it finally came into effect after the Supreme Court’s decision on National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
