Karnataka 2nd PUC Result Date, Karnataka 12th Result 2023: The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board today declared the Class 12 result. Candidates who appeared for the exams can now check their score at the official website — karesults.nic.in.

The overall pass percentage has been recorded as 74.67 per cent, which is a good increase from last year’s 61.88 per cent. This year, 7,27,923 students registered for the exam, out of which 7,25,821 students were eligible and 7,02,067 students appeared for the exam. According to the data, 5,24,209 students have been declared pass in this year’s Class 12 exams.

This year, out of 7.27 lakh candidates, 2,34,815 students registered from the arts stream, 2,47,269 from the commerce stream and 2,44,129 from the science stream. In the Arts stream, Tabassum Sheikh from NMKRV, Bangalore has earned the top rank. Ananya KA from Alwas college, Mangalore has topped the Commerce stream, and SM Kaushik from Gangotri PU college (Kolar) has achieved the top rank in Science stream.

A total of 2,704 students scored perfect score (100/100) in Mathematics, followed by 5,335 in Computer Science and 3,475 in Accountancy. A total of 1,09,509 students scored distinction this year (85 per cent above) while 77,371 students scored third or pass class (below 50 per cent).

This year, 10,153 students were given 5% grace marks in two subjects to allow them to secure a passing mark in the examinations.This year, students expressed their dissatisfaction with the Chemistry paper, stating that it did not follow the expected blueprint and contained many application-based questions that made it challenging to attempt all of them. In response, a group of chemistry lecturers submitted representations asking for a more lenient evaluation.

Despite the high number of perfect scores in other science subjects such as Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science, only 324 students in Chemistry and 336 students in Electronics managed to achieve the top score.

District-wise Dakshina Kannada district has earned the top spot with 95.33 per cent, followed by Udupi at 95.24 per cent. Yadgir has secured last position with 62.98 per cent.

Now, the students who haven’t secured 35 per cent marks overall will have to appear for compartment or supplementary examination.

It was also announced that in order to be in line with CBSE board and other Indian state boards, the question paper for all subjects this time will consist of 20 multiple choice questions. This is one of the key interventions by the Karnataka School Evaluation and Assessment Board to improve pass percentage.

The exams were held at 1,109 examination centres across the state from March 9 till March 29. In 2022, the overall pass percentage was 61.88 per cent. For boys, it was 52.22 per cent and for girls, it was 68.72 per cent. Nearly 6,83,563 students had appeared for the Karnataka PUC II examinations last year, out of which 4,22,966 students passed.
