The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Dhanbad admits students to undergraduate courses through an all-India entrance exam known as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) which is conducted by all the IITs at various centres across the country.

JEE Advanced 2023 online registration will be conducted from April 30 till May 7, and the entrance exam is set to take place on June 4. The BTech programme is a four-year undergraduate programme and is spread across eight semesters.

IIT Dhanbad was established in 1926 and currently has 5,601 students along with a faculty of 392. It is the only third generational IIT with a history dating back to the early 1900s. In 1926, McPherson Committee during British government submitted its recommendations to set-up an institution to teach mining and geology. It was originally named Indian School of Mines and Applied Geology.
