The brothers, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, who owned the nightclub that went up in blaze killing 25 people, were brought to Goa on Wednesday. They landed in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday afternoon hours after being deported from Thailand.

The brothers, who ran the nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane in North Goa’s Arpora village, were detained from a hotel in Thailand’s Patong last week, based on a request from Indian law enforcement agencies. The duo was shifted to an immigration facility in Bangkok earlier this week. They were then extracted and brought to Delhi by the officials of central agencies on Tuesday.

The Goa Police took them into custody shortly after the Luthras landed at the Delhi airport and obtained a transit remand for their transfer to Goa.

While seeking the remand, Goa Police told the court in its application that the Luthra brothers were the main owners of the nightclub ‘Birch’ by Romeo Lane and had “ultimate control over the operation, safety arrangement, permissions and events conducted at the premises”.
