JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Analysis: April 8 exam easy, balanced

The JEE Main BTech April 2024 paper comprised three subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics. All the subjects have two sections – 1 and 2.

JEE Main 2024: The Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) BTech, BE paper held on April 8 had an easy to moderate mathematics, an easy physics and chemistry paper. The JEE Main April 8 exam was held in two shifts, first from 9 am to 12 noon and the second shift between 3 pm and 6 pm, and was conducted for a total of 300 marks. The paper 1 questions, as per the students’ analysis, were ‘easier’.

Students and experts found the shift 1 exam of JEE Main 2024 BTech paper to be balanced. “In terms of order of difficulty – mathematics was easy to moderate while physics and chemistry were easy. Overall, this paper was easier than earlier sessions as per students,” Ramesh Batlish Head, FIITJEE Noida said while sharing student’s feedback of the first shift.

The JEE Main BTech April 2024 paper comprised three subjects – physics, chemistry and mathematics. All the subjects have two sections – 1 and 2. While section 1 had 20 multiple choice questions with single correct answer, section 2 had 10 numerical based questions out of which only five had to be answered. Numerical based questions in both the sessions were found to be easy as per most students. 

Few fact-based questions from Class 12 chapters of NCERT were also asked in the first shift and students felt more weightage was given to Class 12 chapters.

According to JEE Main 2024 exam analysis shared by experts, the math paper was easy to moderate. Questions were asked from all chapters with emphasis on chapters of calculus and coordinate geometry. The numerical section had lengthy calculations from chapters of calculus and algebra. A few questions were reported as lengthy and easy.

In physics, numerical based questions were lengthy and easy, while the chemistry paper was found to be easy. A few fact-based questions from Class 12 chapters of NCERT were also asked in physics and chemistry.

“Questions in chemistry were mostly straightforward and but few confusing questions were asked from Organic chemistry. Most of the questions were theoretical in nature. Questions from prominent chapters like Electrochemistry, Biomolecules, Equilibrium and Organic chemistry-Some basic principles and techniques were asked. Almost all the chapters were equally covered in the paper. Physical chemistry had a good portion in this paper. NCERT was the key to solving chemistry questions in the paper,” said Ajay Kumar Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash Educational Services Limited.
