Prem Milind Gujrathi had bagged an all-India rank of 2,644 in the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) 2020 and now, he is in his fourth year at IIT Kanpur’s electrical engineering department.
Twenty-two-year-old Gujrathi appeared for the Class 10 exam in 2018 and Class 12 in 2020. Gujrathi is originally from Maharashtra’s Shirpur. He did his Class 10 from Shirpur and then went to Indore for Class 12. It was his first attempt at JEE in 2020.
Gujrathi loved physics, chemistry and mathematics, so he chose engineering after Class 12.
Speaking to indianexpress.com, Gujrathi shared how he prepared for JEE Advanced.
How did you prepare for JEE Advanced?
My JEE Advanced preparation started when I was in Class 11. I was enrolled in an offline classroom coaching programme at FIITJEE in Indore. It was a school-integrated programme.
I mainly followed what they said, worked hard for two years and focussed on the coaching materials and followed the exam pattern and syllabus.
I made notes for all the subjects. I took multiple test papers to get accustomed to the time. I also made sure to complete the tests within the time set.
How did you approach the JEE Advanced question paper?

I attempted my JEE Advanced question paper in the CMP (chemistry, math, physics) chronological order. First, I attempted the questions in chemistry, next I started with the math sections and then headed to physics. I followed this pattern during my preparation days as well and therefore, it became easier for me to transition from one section to the next on the day of the JEE Advanced exam.
How did you spend your last few days before exam?
Just before the exam, I stopped checking for new things. I just revised my notebooks – classroom notes and notes made by me. I did not appear for any test during the last week. However, during the week before that, I revised my notes and attempted the test papers as well. If I attempted a test in the morning, I would analyse the test in the evening.
What would you recommend aspirants of JEE Advanced 2024?
– Do not panic. The exam will be tough but it will be tough for everyone.

– Do not touch any new topic now. Whatever you have studied before, revise only that much.
– Keep your focus on revising.
– Attempt tests this week.
– Analyse the mistakes done in the mock tests.
– Fix your sleep schedule.
– It is just another exam.
– Just stay clam, stay focussed.
– Most importantly, stay hydrated.
Gujrathi further said, “Though I still share the same love for the three subjects – physics, chemistry and math — I do not really love electrical engineering that much. And therefore, I am transitioning towards a career in management,” he added.
