IBPS PO Interview Process and Weightage
Candidates who clear the Mains examination are shortlisted for the personal interview round conducted by IBPS in coordination with participating public sector banks. The interview assesses candidates on several key parameters, including:
– Banking and general awareness
– Communication and interpersonal skills
– Overall personality, confidence and clarity of thought
– Ability to handle situational and problem-solving questions
The interview carries 100 marks. To qualify, candidates from the General category must score a minimum of 40%, while those from SC, ST, OBC and PwD categories need at least 35%.
After the interview, IBPS prepares the final merit list using a predetermined weightage system: the Mains examination contributes 80%, while the interview contributes 20% to the final score. Based on this combined merit, candidates are provisionally allotted to participating banks. The allocation is followed by a detailed document verification process to confirm eligibility and complete the final selection.
