The Rajasthan High Court has stayed the appointment of several academic staff at the Central University of Rajasthan (CUR) in response to two different petitions.
An order by Justice M N Bhandari on Monday restrained the University from proceeding with the appointment process, which started in June this year.
The HC also issued notices to the secretary, MHRD, besides several faculty members and Registrar of CUR.
The petitions, by Central University of Rajasthan and one Dr Rahul Kumar, challenged the University’s appointment process for filling several academic posts in the department of Economics, Mathematics, Social Work, Biotechnology among others.
The petitioners alleged that the appointment process had violated several guidelines of the UGC and provisions of the Central University of Rajasthan Act 2009.
“The process started with an advertisement on June 3rd , with the last date for applications being June 30th. Interviews were conducted in extreme haste, when the university ordinance says there should be a gap of at least 21 days after issuing call letters,” advocate for CUR Dharmendra Sharma said.
