After a jump of over 10 per cent in 2022, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) Class 12 general stream results declared Wednesday dipped by over 13 per cent, this year.
The batch of mass promoted Class 10 students in 2021 with an overall pass percentage of 73.27 per cent, the Class 12 general stream results returned exactly to its pass percentage of 2019.
In 2022, the pass percentage was 86.91 per cent, in 2020 the overall result was 76.29 per cent while in March 2019 it was 73.27 per cent.
The state board exams that were held after a gap of one year due to Covid-19 pandemic in 2022 saw an improvement of more than 10 per cent as compared to the last Class 12 general stream results. This declined by 13.62 per cent, this year.
A record number of 4,77,392 regular students appeared for the exams out of which 3,49,792 were declared pass. The pass percentage of general stream, including arts and commerce, is 73.22 per cent, while for vocational stream, it is 73.82 per cent.
This time again, girls outshone boys as they recorded a higher overall pass percentage of 80.39 per cent against their male counterparts at 67.03 per cent, leading with a gap of 13.36 per cent.
Further, schools with 100 per cent result too declined significantly from 1064 to 311 along with school with less than 10 per cent result that increased from only one to 44, this time.
Among districts while Kutch recorded the highest percentage of 84.59 per cent while Dahod recorded the lowest of 54.67 per cent.

Among examination centres, Vangadhra in Rajkot district recorded the highest pass percentage of 95.85 per cent while Devgadhbariya in Dahod district the lowest of 36.28 per cent. The number of copying incidents reduced from 2,544 to 357, this year.
Among three major mediums, English medium students secured the highest pass percentage of 79.16 per cent, Gujarati medium 72.83 while Hindi medium the lowest of 67.45 per cent. Urdu, and Marathi medium students pass percentage was 82.67 and 72.58 per cent, respectively.
Among subjects, while students secured the highest pass percentage in Hindi subject— 94.91 per cent, Philosophy turned had the lowest pass percentage at 76.69 per cent. This recorded a change as in March 2022 students’ pass percentage was the lowest in Computer — 85.72 per cent.
With 33,494 students, the highest number of students could not clear two subjects followed by 33,402 students who failed to clear one subject.
