This year, commerce stream has recorded highest pass percentage with 93.95 per cent students qualifying the exams. As many as 30,475 students got first division, 12,975 got second and 2,730 got third division.

As per the new marking scheme, the minimum mark that must be obtained to pass the intermediate board exams is 30 in every subject. The total marks for every subject is 100 (theory and practicals combined) except for optional subjects which carry 50 marks.

In 2019, students got an option to choose a sixth paper. Earlier, there were only five papers carrying total marks of 500. These five papers included paper 1 (language), paper 2 (language), and three compulsory subjects of the selected streams (arts, science, commerce). From 2019 onwards, students were able to choose a sixth paper related to the particular stream or any of the 12 languages as an additional subject.
With the introduction of the sixth paper (additional subject), if a student fails in any one of the papers, the marks of the sixth paper will be evaluated as the main subject.
