Bihar Cabinet Ministers’ Educational Qualification 2025: CM Nitish Kumar is an NIT Patna graduate

After earning his engineering degree, Nitish Kumar began his career at the Bihar State Electricity Board, but his growing interest in social issues and public life soon drew him away from engineering, and he chose politics.

The National Institute of Technology Patna, established on January 28, 2004, became the 18th NIT in India after the Ministry of Human Resource Development rechristened the historic Bihar College of Engineering.

Its roots stretch back to 1886, when the Pleaders’ Survey Training School was founded in Patna. The institution was upgraded to the Bihar College of Engineering in 1924, making it the sixth-oldest engineering institute in the country. Over the decades, it expanded its academic scope, elevating its graduate-level curriculum to the postgraduate level in 1978. In the NIRF 2025 Engineering ranking, the Institute was ranked at 53 spot with a score of 53.89.

Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary & Vijay Kumar Sinha

Samrat Choudhary is one of the two new deputy chief ministers of Bihar. As mentioned in the affidavit of Choudhary, his highest education is of Doctor of Litt, from California Public University, USA. The varsity has a School of Arts and Humanities that offers a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree.

Vijay Kumar Sinha holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Government Polytechnic, Barauni, Begusarai, which he completed in 1989.
