
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu today announced that the board exam for Class 10 Modern Indian Language subjects will now be conducted on April 1. The announcement was made by the minister through his official Twitter handle.
“This is to notify all to all concerned that in view of the ongoing Police investigation regarding the leakage of the Question paper of the HSLC Examination 2023, and in order to avoid holding of examination of MIL subjects in a comprised situation, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam has decided to reschedule the Examination of MIL / English (IL) subjects earlier scheduled to be held on 18th March 2023,” the official notice stated.
In addition to this, the state’s chief minister also informed students that the Assamese exam will also be rescheduled soon. “It has been brought to my notice that the arrested accused centre incharge of Luhit Khabalu HS School has, during interrogation, confessed of leaking Assamese paper as well. In view of this, I have advised SEBA to reschedule Assamese exam also,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, two teachers have been identified as the masterminds of the Class 10 question paper leak, Assam Director General of Police G P Singh said on Friday. While one of them has been detained, the second suspect is still absconding, Singh said. Pranab Dutta, the headteacher and centre in-charge of Luhit Khabalu High School of Majuli, has been detained, the DGP said. The police have also established the chain of leakage.
Not just Modern Indian Language subjects, but the exam paper of the General Science subject was also cancelled after it was sold for up to Rs 3,000 on WhatsApp, Director-General of Police Gyanendra Pratap Singh revealed.
