Two held for dragging tribal youth on road in Wayanad

Two youths were arrested Tuesday and search is on for another two in connection with dragging a tribal youth by a car in Wayanad on Sunday.

The incident resulted in widespread protest forcing the police to take action.

The accused have been identified as Muhammed Harshad and Abhiram, both natives of Kaniyambatta in Wayanad.

They were nabbed while returning from Bengaluru, police said. Harshad, a salesman, was behind the wheels of the car that dragged the victim for more than 100 meters.

Abhiram, a student, grabbed the victim’s hand through the car window while the vehicle was moving. Investigating officer Sunil Gopi said the other accused are Vishnu, a daily wage labourer and Nabeel Khamar, who is employed in the Middle East but was on leave.
