An eight-year-old girl, who was found dead in Bhaktinagar Railway Yard in Rajkot on Saturday, was gang-raped and murdered by three men who were her neighbours, police said on Monday. The three accused have been arrested.
While she was playing outside Friday evening, one of the accused lured the girl to bushes where two others were waiting, said the police.
The three men raped her, and then killed her by hitting her with stones in the head, Vidhi Chaudhary, Additional Commissioner of Police told reporters.
She said the accused hail from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, aged 24, 25 and 38.
Two of them were working in a factory in Rajkot while the other one was a casual labourer.
