Yashraj Dalvi was the toast of the day,putting aside fourth seed Abhishekh Mangle in the AITA Futurepro Tennis Academy Talent Series (Under-12) Tournament.

Yashraj Dalvi was the toast of the day,putting aside fourth seed Abhishekh Mangle in the AITA Futurepro Tennis Academy Talent Series (Under-12) Tournament at the Divisional Sports Complex,Yerwada courts on Saturday.

In the boy’s singles section,Yashraj breezed past Omkar Agnihotri and completed his giant killing act with a hard-fought 4-1,2-4,7-2 victory over Mangle in the second round.

Seeded players had no difficulty advancing,with number one seed,Nashik’s Siddharth Sable,number three seed Rishab Agarwal and eighth seed Aahir Hattangari posting easy two set wins. Nijar Patel seeded seventh dropped a set en-route to beating Mayank Joshi 4-0,1-4,7-2.

In the girl’s singles,top-seeded Khushi Shah and fifth Gargi Pawar blanked Shraddha Ingle and Bhagyashri Bhave 4-0,4-0 respectively.

Salekar wins in Om Dalvi Memorial

Pune’s Piyush Salekar scored an 8-6 win over Gujarat’s Tanveer Armaan in the toughest match of the day to move into the third round of the Om Dalvi Memorial Under-18 Championship Series National Ranking Tennis tournament under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association.

Pawar,Kusalkar secure wins

Seasoned players Jayant Pawar and Manoj Kusalkar scored contrasting wins to enter the third round of the Men’s event at the first edition of the Pune Open Lawn Tennis Tournament played at ILS Law College Tennis Courts.
