According to statements of neighbours, they heard screams from the apartment of Bhosale.

A women police constable attached to Loni Kalbhor police allegedly murdered her 28-year-old relative Monday afternoon, attacking her with an iron rod. According to information given by Loni Kalbhor police, the incident took place in Urali Kanchan area in the afternoon.

Police identified the arrested constable as Rupali Khedekar and her relative as Usha Sameer Bhosale.

According to statements of neighbours, they heard screams from the apartment of Bhosale.  They rushed to the flat and found the door locked from inside.

Neighbours broke open the door and found that Khedekar had brutally attacked Bhosale with an iron rod and dragged her into the bathroom.

Meanwhile, police were called. Bhosale was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Additional superintendent of police Ravindrasinh Pardeshi said, “We are yet to ascertain the reason behind the murder. The women are relatives. The husband of the deceased is a construction contractor.”

A police officer said Khedekar was suspended from services in 2008 over allegations of theft but was reinstated a few months ago. She remained absent from duty citing illness.  Police inspector Abhiman Pawar is probing the case.
