A 27-year-old woman police sub-inspector attached to Chatuhshrungi police station allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house in Dapodi. Police said she had been ailing for more than a month and had not left any suicide note.
According to Bhosari police,the deceased has been identified as Deepali Shankar Jadhav,a resident of Mantri House apartments in Dapodi area.
Jadhav hailed from Yelavi village in Tasgaon tehsil of Sangli district and was unmarried. Police inspector (crime),B S Tele,with Chatushrungi police station said,Jadhav was on leave for the past month and we came to know that she was ill. Her service revolver was deposited with the police station since then.
A senior police officer said,There were absolutely no issues with her work and her behaviour with everyone at the police station was very good.
A case of accidental death was registered at Bhosari police station. Ravindra Chaudhar,police inspector with Bhosari police station said,Her neighbour got suspicious after they saw the bundle of newspaper and the tiffin box outside her residence. They informed the police control room We had to break open the door. We found her hanging to the hook meant for the ceiling fan. Senior police inspector Mahadev Chavan,with Chatushrungi police station was not available for comment. Police suspect her to have committed suicide a day before.
On January 20,a police naik attached to Lashkar police station,Rambhaji Thorat (46) had allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a cable from a tree in the backyard of the police station. On October 3,last year,an inspector with Dattawadi police station,D R Sankeshwari (45) allegedly shot himself with his service revolver at his Swargate Police Colony residence. Police had said he was stressed over his illness.
