Winning Lines

Raghu Dixit has done it again. After landing himself at the top of the iTunes charts and scoring a gig on the acclaimed television show Later… with Jools Holland,the musician has won the Best Newcomer Award at the Songlines Awards that recognise the best in world music. This shouldn’t come as a surprise for those who’ve been following Dixit’s music. However,what is surprising is that this is Dixit’s first award ever. “It is a reward and true recognition for all the work that all the members of the Raghu Dixit Project have put in over the past couple of years while trying to break into the music scene in the UK. And to be on the same list that includes great musicians like Femi Kuti,Afrocubism and Bellowhead is a dream come true!” says Dixit,who will perform at High Spirits,Koregaon Park,on Sunday.
