Barring stray incidents of alleged bogus voting at Paud road,voting in Kothrud was peaceful with a number of well-known personalities like Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi,cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar to name a few casting their vote. Some persons were caught for alleged bogus voting at the Yashwantrao Chavan Primary School in Jai Bhavani Nagar around noon. They were allegedly beaten up by the public and handed over to police.
Both the ward offices in Warje-Karve Nagar and Kothrud recorded an average of 12.8 per cent voting in the first two hours between 7.30am and 9.30 am. However,by the end of the day,the Kothrud ward office saw an average of 52.04 per cent voting where panel 26,27,28,29 and 34 fall in the jurisdiction of this ward. The voting in panel 26 (MIT School) was 50.86 per cent,27 (ARAI) was 55.35 per cent,28 (Vanaz Company) was 51.78 per cent,29 (Mahatma Society) had 52.23 per cent,while in panel 34 (Mayur Colony) was 51.01 per cent, said Khandu Nimhan,assistant returning officer in Kothrud ward office.
The Warje-Karve Nagar ward office recorded an average of 51 per cent voting. Panels 30,31,32,33 and 35 fall in this ward office. The voting in panel 30 (Warje) was 53.60 per cent,in panel 31 (Warje gaonthan -Malwadi) it was 55.01 per cent,panel 32 (Hingne Stree Shikshan Sanstha) saw 49.76 per cent,panel 33 (Dahanukar Colony) witnessed 45.95 per cent and panel 35 (Sangam Press-Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital) saw 48.6 per cent, said Suresh Desai,assistant returning officer of Warje-Karnagar ward office.
