The University of Pune (UoP) will be starting three under graduate courses and one postgraduate course,each course with 60-student strength in Ras-Al-Khaimah (RAK) UAE from September this year. The varsity has got a building of a medical college to house its classrooms.
The varsity has already started executive MBA course in RAK from April this year. There are 19 students whop have presently opted for the course. The acting vice chancellor Arun Adsool recently visited the RAK campus to review the infrastructure and making arrangements for starting new courses. “I visited the RAK campus during July 17 to 19. We recently got the possession of new building where we will be starting BCA,architecture,MBA and two ebgineering courses – mechanical and electronics and telecommunication,” said Adsool.
“The courses will be taught by the faculty of the UoP and we will be sending teachers from here. I have called a meeting of principals of engineering and architecture colleges to identify quality teachers who can go and teach in RAK,” he said.
Edulink is the official partner of the varsity in RAK,which will be looking after the infrastructure. “The library,physics,electronics and chemistry labs,sports facilities and classrooms are ready. The workshop for mechanical engineering is yet to be readied,” said Adsool.
Adsool also said that the responsibility from admission to graduation would lie on the varsity. “The exams will be conducted by the examination section in Pune and a coordinator will be appointed to send the papers there,” he said.
K C Mohite has been appointed as a full time director of RAK campus. “The faculty will be sent from here. The advantage for teachers however is that they will get a global exposure,” said Adsool.
