Police have invoked Section 304 (2) of IPC which pertains to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
TWO WORKERS were killed, and three others were seriously injured after a dilapidated compound wall of a private company collapsed on them in Sanaswadi area in Shirur taluka of Pune on Wednesday morning.
Pune Rural police have registered a case for culpable homicide against a firm that had started construction of a new wall next to the old one.
The incident took place around 8.30 am outside the premises of a construction company in Sanaswadi in Shirur taluka. Around 12 vehicles including four cars and eight bikes were also damaged in the incident. The area is located nearly 35 kilometres from Pune City.
Police have identified the deceased as Manjit Ramavatar Ravidas (28), who hailed from Sheikhpura in Bihar and Rajiv Ramyash Bind (31), who hailed from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh. The injured labourers have been identified as Vijay Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad (34), Satish Vinayak Kangude (33) and Bandu Kisan Vidhate (36), all local residents.
“The initial probe suggests that the construction company had started building a new wall for its compound, next to the dilapidated wall. Excavation has been done for it next to the old wall. On Wednesday morning, the dilapidated building suddenly collapsed killing two workers and injuring three others. We have booked an offence against concerned officials and the owner of the construction company,” said a police officer.
