Two die of swine flu in Pune,toll six since January

A 55-year-old man from Bhopkhel in Haveli tehsil and a 65-year-old from Sahajpur in Daund tehsil of Pune district died of swine flu of Monday.

A 55-year-old man from Bhopkhel in Haveli tehsil and a 65-year-old from Sahajpur in Daund tehsil of Pune district died of swine flu of Monday. With this,the tally of swine flu deaths in Pune Municipal Corporation has gone up to six while neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad has reported five deaths since January.

According to health officials,in the case of the 55-year-old man there was delay by nearly a fortnight in starting his treatment. He was admitted to Ruby Hal Clinic on Monday where he succumbed to the virus. He died due to disease-related complications like acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute renal failure. In the second case,the victim suffered from fever with chills on March 12 and complained of breathless by March 15. The victim was admitted to Noble Hospital at Hadapsar where he succumbed to the virus on Monday.

As per the civic data,there are 11 patients in various hospital across the city being treated for swine flu while three are on ventilator support. Of the 807 throat swabs sent for tests,101 have been found positive for H1N1 since January.
