With a view to impart safety riding techniques,promote safety awareness and make riding a pleasurable experience,India Yamaha Motor had organised a Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) initiative in Pune among the youths.
Students of P V Gs College of Engineering & Technology attended the workshop. the daylong programme was divided into a theoretical session and practical session wherein three particular skills were imparted – slow balancing,slalom and braking.
The YSRS initiative has been developed by the company in accordance with its basic philosophy of “Safety riding being achieved by intelligent activity,not by the operation or movement”. Intelligent activity,in turn,is achieved by imbibing and following traffic safety rules & values into riding.
The company has also prepared a short film of 20 minutes duration,in which it has scientifically analyzed impact force,inertia force and frictional force from a road traffic viewpoint.
Yamaha launched YSRS initiative in India in 2008,and has so far conducted this workshop in cities including Delhi,Nagpur,Goa,Mumbai,Chennai and Bangalore. According to various researches,13 people die every hour in India due to road accidents,the highest in the world. It comes to about 250 people every day and 1,14,590 each year.
