He may no longer be amongst them physically, but his teachings live on through their actions. November 23 was the 86th birth anniversary of Sri Sathya Sai Baba and his devotees in the city left no stone unturned in celebrating it through service to the underprivileged and a programme filled with devotional songs and spiritual discourses.
Devotees got together on November 19 for a Mega Narayan Seva. Food was lovingly distributed to the homeless and needy at different parts of the city. Those who couldn’t participate in the seva conducted a similar activity on Wednesday. All the devotees strive to live by Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s simple message of Love All,Serve All. “For a few months after he passed away,we all felt very low, like a parent had left us. But he has filled us with strength and everyone is working with more zeal now. We want to live a life based wholly on his teachings,” said Narresh Herani, convenor,Camp Samiti,Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation Pune (SSSO). “As a special celebration for his birthday,we distributed food and sarees to slum dwellers in the area and even indulged in spiritual activities like bhajans and nagarsankirtan,” he added.
On November 12 and 13,devotees joined in the Global Akhand Bhajan held at all Sai centres across the world. This was started by Sri Sathya Sai Baba and continues even now. It’s main aim is to pray for global peace. On Wednesday,an elaborate programme was conducted at the Professor Ram Krishna More Auditorium (PCMC Hall) by the Pimpri-Chinchwad samiti. The event had veda chanting, devotional singing and a bhakti and shubham sangeet performance by Ketaki Mategaokar of Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs. “The basis of the programme was Harmony in Humanity.
