Teacher held for molesting 10-year-old

Dattawadi police have arrested a dance teacher,who is also a director of a dance academy,for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl on Monday night.

Dattawadi police have arrested a dance teacher,who is also a director of a dance academy,for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl on Monday night.

Police have identified the suspect as Nitin Purushottam Arole (47),a resident of Manikbag on Sinhagad Road. The mother of the victim lodged a police complaint at Dattawadi police station.

The suspect was produced before the magistrate court on Tuesday where Judicial Magistrate (first class) U L Pathak remanded him in police custody till April 18.

According to police,the victim is a student of class IV. Her parents had admitted her to a dance and drama academy Kill Bill Natyarang Bhoomi on Sinhagad Road,which is owned by Arole. The classes began on April 11.

Police said that the victim used to go to the class with her friend. The two girls were dropped and picked by victim’s mother or her friend’s father. Around 3.30 pm on Monday,Arole called the victim to his cabin for practice and allegedly molested her.

Assistant police inspector S C Shinde said that incident came to light when father of the victim’s friend found them crying after he brought them home from the academy on Monday evening. When he inquired,the victim reportedly told him that she was molested by Arole. He then informed the victim’s parents,who lodged a complaint under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. Police are investigating whether the suspect molested other minor girls at the academy.
