Kitaabon Se Mulaqqat… Shabdon Se Baatcheet – Conversations Around Manav Kaul’s Books, an event where literature lovers can come together to reflect, discuss, and rediscover the timeless charm of Hindi storytelling, will take place on November 16 at Monalisa Kalagram, Koregaon Park, from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.

The idea for this event took root when Kavita Kafe’s founder and poetry curator Garima Mishra watched Traasadi, Kaul’s Hindi play. The theatre was filled with young faces—many holding his books, already immersed in conversations about his characters before the play had even begun. “It was refreshing to see young people reading, discussing, and feeling Hindi literature so passionately,” Mishra said.

That realisation sparked the thought of bringing readers of Kaul together under one roof — to talk, connect, and celebrate the resurgence of Hindi literary engagement among the youth. “Just imagine—a cool November evening, a touch of soft sunlight, a cup of hot chai in your hands, and a few kindred souls to talk with about Manav Kaul’s books,” says Mishra.

Known for his reflective storytelling and poetic prose, Kaul’s works such as “Bahut Door, Kitna Door Hota Hai” and “Rooh” have struck a deep chord with young readers who see fragments of their own lives and longings in his words, says Mishra.

For many participants, Kaul’s writing evokes a sense of quiet companionship. “Though I’ve read a few other authors before, there’s something magical about Manav’s writing,” said Surbhi Jain, an IT professional.

Poet and author Keshava Shukla described Kaul as a “Romantic Fool”. “That gentle foolishness, that unguarded sensitivity — readers find it beautifully relatable. The simplicity of his language and the honesty of his emotions make his writing timeless,” he said.

“While Manav Kaul won’t be attending in person, his presence will be deeply felt—in his words, his books, and in the conversations they inspire among us,” said Mishra.
