Swimming coach ends life

A 26-year-old youth,who worked as a swimming coach at a five-star hotel here,allegedly committed suicide by slashing his wrist before jumping into an abandoned quarry at Vetal Tekdi around four days ago.

A 26-year-old youth,who worked as a swimming coach at a five-star hotel here,allegedly committed suicide by slashing his wrist before jumping into an abandoned quarry at Vetal Tekdi around four days ago. The incident came to light after a security guard spotted his decomposed body in an abandoned stone quarry. According to the police,the youth,Suyog Rajaram Shinde,took the extreme step because the woman he loved did not reciprocate his feelings.

Shinde was a resident of Pulachi Wadi near Deccan Gymkhana. Vishnu Mane,assistant commissioner of police (Chatushrungi division) said,“At first,we thought it was a murder case as we found blood stains at the spot from where he jumped into the quarry. A suicide note found during the post mortem mentioned a girl with whom he had a one-sided love affair and that he had proposed to once,but she refused.”

Inspector (crime) S B Navale said,“Shinde’s family last saw him on December 14. The next day,they registered a missing complaint at Balgandharv police chowky.”
