Student run over by reversing tempo on school premises

A 14-Year-old student lost his life after he was hit by a tempo reversing on its way out of the Savitribai Phule Prashala near Ramoshi Gate on Friday afternoon

A 14-Year-old student lost his life after he was hit by a tempo reversing on its way out of the Savitribai Phule Prashala near Ramoshi Gate on Friday afternoon.

Khdak police said deceased Aseef Abdul Rehman was a student of Class VIII. The incident took place around 3.30 pm near the main gate of the school run by the Pune Municipal Corporation.

Inspector (Crime) S M Sawant said: “The tempo had come to the school to deliver the books that were to be distributed among the students. After the books were delivered,the tempo was moving out of the school gate when Aseef was hit by the rear side of the vehicle and fell down. He came under the wheels and sustained severe injuries,to which he succumbed sometime later.” Police have detained the tempo driver,Barikrao Tupe.

Aseef’s father drives a rickshaw for a living.
