Post-Everest,a Kathmandu-Kolkata bicycle stint is next on Krushnaa Patils to-do list
After having conquered the Mount Everest,it seems that city youngster Krushnaa Patils adventurous instincts are still not fully sated. The first and the youngest Maharashtrian woman to have conquered Mount Everest is now planning to return to Kolkata from Kathmandu on a bicycle during her journey back home.
Krushnaa is currently on her way back to Lukla via Namche Bazaar, the last town before the Everest base camp. From Lukla, she is expected to take a flight back to Kathmandu. Talking about her daughter’s plans,Ranjana Patil,Krushnaas mother says,It seems that the adventurous stint is still not over for my daughter,as she is planning to come to Kolkata from Kathmandu on bicycle. And knowing her,I can assure you that my daughter is capable of such a feat.
Patil, however, added that the cycle journey is still in the planning stage and that she is flying to Kathmandu to receive her daughter on May 28. It will only be after meeting her that I will come to know what her final plans are, added she. Sharing the first telephonic conversation that she had with her triumphant daughter,Ranjana Patil said,I told her that entire Maharashtra is waiting for you. She was excited to know that and said that she was eager to meet all her well-wishers as well.
She was amongst four out of 10 climbers to have reached the summit. The rest backed off midway through the expedition. Krushnaa spent almost 45 minutes on Everest and said that she hoisted the Indian flag on the summit. It was a proud moment for her,she said during our telephonic conversation, says Patil. Krushnaa was supposed to be flagged off by President Pratibha Patil before starting the expedition. The presidents office had agreed to flag off the summit. However,we could not visit Rashtrapati Bhavan due to lack of time. Even the flag that she hoisted was brought in Nepal for 200 Nepali Rupees, she concludes.
