Regional Transport Office,Pune,is set to become the first RTO in the state to start the Screen Test Aid for Learners Licence (STALL) project. Stall will start in a month and has a specially designed software to ensure prevention of copying during the test conducted by the RTO for issuing learners licence.
STALL had a successful pilot run in Baramati, said RTO officials.
Regional transport officer Arun Yeola said,Currently, around 500 licences are issued from RTO offices at Sangam Bridge and Alandi Road. Once this system is adopted,we will be able to issue about 1,000 learners licence per day day, said Arun Yeola,RTO.
Once STALL is operational, the applicants will visit the website, upload photos and other documents and fill the application after which they will get an appointment date. A printout of the letter and original documents are to be carried by the applicant to the RTO on the date allotted.
A question bank of 450 questions are with us. If an applicant continuously answers 12 questions (out of 20) correct,he/ she need not answer the remaining questions. The candidate will get a message that he has passed and can move out. This will save time and the next candidate can sit for the test, Yeola said explained the working of STALL.
A touchscreen system has been planned for answering questions. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is implementing the project. The questions will be available in nine languages including Hindi,
English and Marathi. In the pilot project, the fail rate was 45 per cent. Under the existing system only about 25 per cent applicants fail in the test, added Yeola.
