M S Unnikrishnan,CEO Thermax Limited,has highlighted the role of small scale industries (SSIs),which he said,were playing their part in taking the country on the road of progress. Large industries make the economic development of the country. But small and medium industries too do not lag behind in this. Small and medium industries are capable of taking the country on the road of progress by achieving social and financial progress, he said.
Unnikrishnan was speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of Suvarna Group of Companies,known for its fibre products. Various dignitaries from the industrial world were present on the occasion. Prominent among them were Ashok Magdum,deputy chief manager,Bank of Maharashtra,S S Lagvankar,deputy chief manager,Tata Motors,Yuvaraj Dayanand,COO Ritgen India,industrialist Mohan Nayar. Rev Fr John Kavukatt was also present along with P I Varghese,chief executive director,Suvarna Group of Industries.
Ashok Magdum said,The towering progress of SSIs like Suvarna has made us proud bankers. The company has given a message of energy conservation by effective working in the Wind Energy Sector. We are confident that the company even will work effective in the space sector along with all types of energy sectors.
Nair said,SSIs in Pimpri-Chinchwad-Bhosari industrial belts have gone through difficult phase. The recession hit them badly. Suvarna too faced many challenging,but through proper planning,commitment and dedication,it should to the world what it takes not only to sustain bad times,but also emerged on top. P I Varghese said if SSIs get necessary governmental assistance,they can become well and truly become nation’s torchbearers. The nation should not forget that it is because of SSIs large industries are functioning properly and helping nation building, Varghese said.
Employees working for the past 25 years were felicitated on the occasion. Suvarna News, a book taking stock of the companys progress,was also released.
