Girish Natu,the vice-president of the Poona District Metropolitan Badminton Association and a senior badminton umpire has been nominated to officiate the prestigious All England Badminton Championship. Natu,a senior international umpire,was nominated by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to officiate the tournament which is being played in Birmingham from March 5 to 10.

PFC colts to take on Salgaocar

PFC take on the challenge of Salgaocar FC in a battle of firsts in a Group-A Under-20 I-League encounter at the JRD Stadium,Jamshedpur. While the Goans will be playing their first match,PFC will be playing their second and hope to continue their winning streak. PFC after their win against Prayag United SC are on 3 points and lead the group,followed by Sporting Clube Goa,United Sikkim FC (1 point each) and Prayag United SC.

Colaco powers Shivajians

Sydney Colaco’s hattrick with goals in the 23rd minute,47th minute and 50th minute helped DSK Shivajians A score a thumping 4-0 win over Parshuramians A and help them move into the second round of the “MAYORS CUP” Football tournament being organised by Poona District Football Association at the Dobarwadi ground,Hadapsar. Ram Sporting Club,Ghorpuri Tamil United ,Wanawari Sports Club also moved into the second round. In a close encounter Ram Sporting Club pulled off a win in sudden death over Valley Hunters winning 3-2 after both teams were tied at end of full time at 0-0 and also the tie-breaker at 2-2. Ghorpadi Tamil United registered a solitary win over KMPXI,while Wanawari Sports Club scored a 3-1 win over Joseph FC.

Sukhai FC crowned champions

Sukhai FC scored a 3-1 tie-breaker win over DSK Shivajians to lift the third division championship of the Pune Football Tournament organised by Pune District Football Association (PDFA) at the Dobarwadi ground,Hadapsar. After a goalless draw in the full time Jaiprakash Janardhan,Ganesh Kale and Sachin Pardeshi scored for the winning team,while Arif Khan managed to net the lone goal for DSK Shivajians. Apart from winning the Third division league Sukhai also got a promotion into the Second Division league for the next season alongwith the runners-up DSK Shivajians.

Navsahyadri enters Super League

Navsahyadri registered a 27-25 win over PYC C team to qualify for the Super league stage at Shashi Vaidya Memorial Inter-club Tennis tournament being organised and played at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana tennis courts. The Super League stage of the event will be played from March 9,the three teams to come from the league stage PCLTA A,Deccan C and Navsahaydri will play with the top six teams from the first edition which are PYC A,Deccan B,Solaris,Deccan A,Fergusson College and PYC B. The top three teams will move to the semi-finals. The finals are scheduled for March 31.
