ABIL Corporate Cricket: Kirloskar beat Tech Mahindra

In the first quarter-final of the ABIL Corporate Cricket T20 tournament,Kirloskar posted a total of 141 for five after electing to bat first at the Deccan Gymkhana. They then defended the total with a disciplined bowling against Tech Mahindra. After Jitendra Shende scored 38 runs off 36 balls and 4 fours and six,it was third-wicket stand between Nachiket Parchure and Rahul Sambhus that gave some solidity to Kirloskar’s total. Parchure,who scored 34 off 39 balls with 4 fours and Sambhus 29 (15b,3×6),together put on 48 runs in 41 balls. In reply,Tech Mahindra were bundled out for 119 in 20 overs after Kaustubh Deshpande (3 for 20),Rohit Khadkikar (3 for 24) and Dhyaneshwar Kumbhar (2 for 22) shared the spoils in an emphatic 21-run win for Kirloskar.

Result: Kirloskar won by 21 runs.

Pune Strykers to face Chandigarh Comets

Largely called the underdogs of the tournament,the Pune Strykers will be squaring off against the Chandigarh Comets on Sunday in the semi-finals of the World Series Hockey. The match between the two teams will be held at the MHA Mahindra Stadium in Mumbai,which is also the home ground of the Mumbai Marines. The other semifinal will be played between Sher-e-Punjab and the Karnataka Lions at the KSHA Hockey Stadium in Bengaluru. The finals will be held on Monday at the MHA Mahindra Stadium at 9 pm.
