MindSpark,CoEPs annual tech-fest,will begin its third edition next month,with several new events and the best engineering colleges vying for the championship
For over 150 years,CoEP has been the Mecca of technical education,especially in Pune and large parts of Maharashtra. And now engineering and technology buffs in the city have a lot to look forward to next month,with MindSpark,the technical festival of the College Of Engineering- Pune,kicking off in its third year. Every year,MindSpark attracts audiences from all over India,with new activities and competitions being added to the event.
In 2008,CoEPs brainchild,the Mindspark championship was introduced for the first time wherein all colleges present competed with one another for the title of MindSpark champion.
MindSpark 2009 will take it one step further. Scheduled on October 9,10 and 11,the stage is set with over fifty cleverly designed events,spanning the entire spectrum of engineering disciplines. Institute Director Dr. A. D. Sahasrabudhe said It will ignite the worlds of budding engineers to fight recession and let the economy bloom The usual events are back,this time with the added charm of a virtual Stock Exchange,a leap towards Open Source software culture,some hard revving Automobile mania workshops to cater to every techie’s needs. The evenings promise to melt away into sweet nirvana with shows featuring drama,music and stand ups. Finally the best colleges will battle it out for glory in the Holy Grail of Engineering – The Technical Championship.
The technical secretary Aadinath Harihar said,This year the event will cater to every audience,be it students,professionals,entrepreneurs or the industry. Promising events from Computer/IT fields like AI Wars,Code Junkie along with workshop events like MiniDevcon and Virtuosity add to the pull of MindSpark. From Mechanical,which is one of CoEPs oldest and most reputed branch,come events like Contraptions and MechTrix. Events like Electronic Art,Circuit Fixer and Encrypto along with Tweaker complete the fast growing Electronics & Telecommunications branch. Aspiring civil engineers can show off their skills at events like Utopia,Conquest and Contrive. CoEP being one of the few colleges with Metallurgical engineering,MindSpark also hosts events like On The Etch and Alchemy along with an Advanced Materials Quiz. LAN Games such as the popular Counter Strike and many others complete the list. Events like Paper Presentation and B-Plan also work as major crowd pullers.
