Bombay Bassment,a quadret from Mumbai,will be performing at High Spirits,Koregaon Park,on March 8 from 8.30 pm onwards. The line-up features MC and Rapper Bob,Drummer Levin,Bassist Ruell and DJ Chandu. With an upbeat blend of hip hop,rap,reggae,funk and drum n bass,the band has a unique sound that reflects the individual style of each member. While Levin and Ruell,founders of Bombay Bassment,have been active on the Indie music scene for eight years,Chandu has been DJing in top-notch clubs of Mumbai for over 15 years. Bob,a veteran MC and DJ from Kenya,believes he was led by destiny into Mumbai’s music circuit over a decade ago. He formulates his lyrics and sound around the rhythms of his life.
Cinemas Scope
As part of the ongoing celebrations for completing 100 years of Indian Cinema,the Maharashtra government is organising a film festival at Alaka Talkies from March 8-14. Home minister Ajit Patil will inaugurate the festival that will feature both Hindi and Marathi movies. A documentary on the life of Dadasaheb Phalke and a photo exhibition of some prominent films of Indian cinema will be among the highlights of the festival. Some of the films that will be showcased are Brahmachari,Shyamchi Aai,Shwaas,Gabricha Paus,and Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron.
