Soul Stirrer

For those non-vegetarians who would cringe to set foot into a vegetarian restaurant,it's time to re-think that decision.

The delicious vegetarian food at newly opened Soul Kitch at Little Italy will make you forget your meat cravings

For those non-vegetarians who would cringe to set foot into a vegetarian restaurant,it’s time to re-think that decision. For,here’s a restaurant that serves up a mean veggie fare which makes sure that the meat lovers don’t miss their meat. Soul Kitch,a multi-cuisine restaurant at Little Italy,Ganeshkhind Road, was started a month ago with an aim to woo the city’s foodies. And with its array of dishes across Indian,Continental,Mediterranean and Oriental cuisines,it is doing just that.

The restaurant has a buffet menu that changes every fortnight. The salads and starters are different every day. Prashant Mohite, operations manager at Little Italy, says,“Instead of having a live buffet, the dishes are made to order, and it is all unlimited.”

For starters,we tried the vegetable dimsum, paneer tikka, stuffed mushrooms and pita bread served with hummus. The latter became an instant favourite. The other dishes were quite regular. Raj Mehta,MD of the Little Italy Chain, says,“Our aim is to promote vegetarian dishes in a way that everyone can enjoy them.”

Moving on to the main course,we tried the Thai Green Curry,Basil Rice,Tai Pan Rice, and Supreme Steak with Mushroom Sauce. The Thai Green curry, rich in lemon grass and basil, left us craving for more. The Basil Rice was a perfect accompaniment for the green curry with its basil and ginger flavours. The Tai Pan Rice, cooked with chilly sauce, schezwan sauce, vegetables and tomato ketchup, was average. The best of the order was the Supreme Steak with Mushroom Sauce. With sliced pineapple, carrots, cheese, mushrooms, onions, garlic and beans,it came with a side dish of spinach sauce and parsley rice. This dish,we really relished and not once did we miss any meat.

Next,we had the Teppenyaki dessert – we had a choice of ice cream along with sponge cake cut in cubes, chocolate flakes,Kiwi syrup and fresh berries. A delightful affair. Ditto for the innovative Pizzert, which is a biscuit base topped with fruits, chocolates, whipped cream, mascarpone cheese and fresh fruits.
