Congress leaders and activists today hailed the “positive decision” of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in resolving the issue concerning the Lokpal bill.

Congress leaders and activists today hailed the “positive decision” of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in resolving the issue concerning the Lokpal bill. At a meeting presided over by Congress leader Balasaheb Marne,a resolution was passed congratulating both Gandhi and Singh for taking a decision in the larger interest of the nation.

Expressing satisfaction that the protest ended amicably,Congress leaders also complimented Anna Hazare and other activists for their successful mission. Congress leader Gopal Tiwari said,“Congress president Sonia Gandhi has always responded positively to issues raised by Hazare. The RTI Act was also brought into effect by the Congress. The Congress president has always taken a tough stand against corruption,” he said.

Tiwari said during the party’s national session held recently,Sonia Gandhi had given a clarion call to wipe out corruption from government functioning.

“Hazare is fighting for a corruption-free society. The success that his mission achieved augurs well for a democracy like ours. It is clearly a sign of our healthy democracy,” the resolution said.
