Vladimir and Estragon might have been two on stage characters long forgotten ever since the play Waiting for Godot had first been staged on January 5,1953. But the fact remains that these two characters revolutionised the very idea of staging plays in which nothing actually happens. The play has been a landmark of sorts.Samuel Beckett the playwright has won a Nobel prize for literature and also the play marking a new genre of theatre popularly termed as the absurd theatre. Recreating the very same magic of Waiting for Godbot,Orchestrated Q’works,a theatre group will be bringing back to life this play on March 18 at the Sudarshan Rang Manch 6.30 pm onwards. The cast of the play includes Hina Siddiqui,Paranv Rasal,Gautam Raykar and Prafull Devale and has been directed by Yezdi Mistry.

Opposite division
Reverse Polarity,the Mumbai Based rock band will be performing in the city live on March 18 as a part of Channel V’s music show Launch Pad III which is all set to be aired from Friday,March 20. The band was formed a year after the old band of which bassist Jordan Veigas and guitarist Shikhar Manchanda-Bitchslap was dismantled. They duo was on a lookout for some new sounds when they roped in vocalist Gaurav Kataria and drummer Jonathan Fernandes. The band has written eight original songs which include songs like,My Paper Princess,Empty faces,Avenged Angel,Cross Poly Nations and Cluster Phobia. The band has been influenced by heavy metal bands like,KillSwitch Engage,Poison the Well,American Head Charge,As I lay Dying and Lamb of God,says a spokesperson. The current line up of the band includes,Gaurav Kataria on Vocals,Jonathan Fernandes on drums,Jordan Veigas on bass guitars,and Shikhar Manchanda on Guitars.

Way to go
The Holloway Primary School (HPS) at the College of Military Engineering (CME) celebrated its Annual Day recently. The tiny tots of the school gave an exhilarating performance through dances,songs and skits. The programme was attended in full strength by parents and staff officers of CME. Lt Gen USP Sinha,VSM,Commandant,CME and Subhadra Sinha,chairperson,HPS graced the occasion by giving away prizes to winners. The Commandant stressed the importance of right parenting for children and appreciated the dedication of school staff.

Of the future
Out on the bookstalls now is a book that for the first time brings the art of tarot reading to the people. The city this Sunday witnessed the launch of Miracle Cards,a book on tarot card reading by famous renowned tarot card reader Larra Shah. The book that was launched by Sandeep Soparkar and Leela Poonawalla was followed by an interactive reading session. Poonawalla and Soparkar complimented Shah for bringing the otherwise ‘in the closet’ art of tarot card reading out in public. The book is based on Miracle Cards that is a deck of 42 tarot cards is a manifestation of Larra’s visions and insights which she got through trans- meditation and travel also from spiritual guides,deities and angels of the universe. Larra worked meticulously for over four years to transform and bring together all the information received from these higher powers into meaningful messages,guidelines and advice that she could offer to the world. The book that was launched in Taj Blue Diamond on Sunday is published by Rupa Co. and is priced at Rs 300.
