Musical treat
Swaramayee Gurukul,an institution of the Dr Prabha Atre Foundation,which is a non-profit making socio-cultural organization,is successfully completing its sixth year of musical service in Pune. The landmark was celebrated by organising a lecture-demonstration yesterday by noted Kathak danseuse Maneesha Sathe. A Hindustani classical vocal recital by noted vocalist of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharaanaa Shruti Sadolikar Katkar will be held today at 6 pm on the Gurukul premises. Katkar received training from her father Pt Wamanrao Sadolikar and Pt Gulubhai Jasdanwala,obtained a Masters degree from the SNDT Womens University,Mumbai and is proficient in singing khayaal and lighter varieties like thumri,daadraa,tappa,bhajan,Haveli sangeet and Marathi natya sangeet. The programme is open to all.
