Saturday is all set to be a magical day. 11 magicians from across the state will be awarded the Jadubhushan Award for having contributed towards keeping the magic behind the art of magic alive. The awards were announced by the National Magic Council recently. Archana Kulkarni (Pune),Dharmendra (Solapur),Shriram Date,Shekhar Chaudhari (Pune),Dnyaneshwar (Mumbai),Zama (Pune),Vijay Bansode (Pune),Ramayya (Belgaon),Indrajit (Thane),Narendra Sawant ( Sawantwadi),Hiraman Gaikwad (Pune) will receive awards in the event taking place at 9 am today at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Sansrutik Bhavan. On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee year of Maharastra State,the council also has organised state level magic competition,wherein magicians from across the state will entertain the audiences through their magic.

Punyachi prabhat,a book that unveils various colours of mornings in Pune was released recently at the hands of N M Joshi,writer. From the pleasant mornings at Parvati hills to the energetic ones on the Lokmanya Nagar ground where the writer came across health conscious individuals and the mornings at Dandekar bridge where life is an amalgamation of poverty and richess,writer Vilas Paygude has put into words countless facets of the city during the morning time. “The city is losing its old-world charm and with this book,we have a documented record of the city’s culture. Our hills,grounds,parks,temples have historical significance and it is important to take a note of their existence in this ever changing world,” said Joshi. The book launch ceremony was followed by a musical recital that involved performances by wellknown city- based artists. The show was compered by poetess Anjali Kulkarni.

Wild encounters
A wildlife photography exhibition by Shrikant Kelkar has been organised at Balgandharva Art Gallery between 4 and 6 June from 10 am to 8 pm. To be inaugurated by Jugalkishor Tiwari,wellknown naturalist from Bhuj,the programme will be marked by presence of personalities such as Arun Bongirwar,Satish Pande,Ravi Paranjpe,Gopalrao Bodhe,Adik Shirodkar and others. On this occasion,a lecture on the topic — Conservation of Nature has been orgaised by Nisarga Sevak,an organisation working towards the betterment of environment.

Rock on
Vh1 and Bru Ice Cappuccino,will be bringing to Pune- Yves Larock as part of their annual property Handpicked! The man,who left everyone standing with his popular song Rise Up,is all set to groove in India for the very first time on starting June 2. He will be in the city as a part of the tour on June 5. Yves Larock,the Swiss DJ and producer has toured the world’s best night clubs and festivals bringing his best music to them. “I’m very excited and honored to be a part of this event. I am looking forward to my very first visit to India. I’m excited to meet my fans and playing my latest tracks for them,” says Larock. He has also recently played gigs extensively throughout Europe as well as Brazil,Dubai,Morocco,Algeria,Scandinavia,and is now all set to hit India! The event will take place at Hard Rock Cafe.
