Special performance
A drama competition for special children was organised by city- based Navkshitij. Titled- Balgangharva,the competition,now in its second year witnessed wonderful performances by special children divided in two teams according to age groups. The competition was judged by Prakash Parakhi and Pratibha Date on the basis of- portrayal of the subject,creativity,costumes and performance. Veteran actors Dilip Prabhawalkar and Lalan Sarang were the chief guests of the function. In the small age-group a number of plays such as- Landaga ala re ala by children from- Sanjivani Vidyalaya,explanatory drama by Sindhu Vidyabhavan titled- Dev Tethechi Janava,Pananchi Goshta by Jeevan Dhara school were presented. Kamayani Vidyamandir bagged the first prize for their skit based on a man having dialogue with god. In the other group,Madhavi Ogale Karyashala performed the skit- Teen Bhavandanchi Katha that threw light on traffic rules and regulation. Swine Flu was the subject portrayed by the students of Navakshitij. Narsihmha Avatar,a mythological story was presented by the students of Jeevan Jyoti.
Polar tales
Dhruv Pradeshat,a book by author Anil Damle will be launched by the hands of Everest conqueror Krushnaa Patil on December 6. Renowned botanist S D Mahajan will be the chief speaker at the event. Senior environmentalist Madhav Gadgil will be the chief guest for the function. The book is based on the thrilling experiences that the author went through during his Antarctica visit in the year 2005 and 2007. A film based on Antarctica will be screened after the book- launch ceremony. Some of the other books written by Damle include- Nisargayatra,Zulunchya Deshat,Bharatatil Abhayaranye and so on. His book- based on the experiences of African Safari titled- Kenya Safari has been awarded the best book written on tourism. The event will take place at National film Archives of India (NFAI) theatre at 4.30 pm.
Readers’ paradise
A book fair and sale has been organised at Lokseva Sahakari Bank,Pashan by Mehta Publishing house in collaboration with the bank. Open between 10 am to 8.30 pm,starting today,the exhibition will showcase books such as- Swami and Shriman yogi along with books by well-known authors such as- Sudha Murthy,Kiran Bedi and so on. A number of renowned authors will be visiting the expo that will conclude on December 9.
