Moving away from the masala films of Bollywood, the Kireet Khurana-directed and Ajay Devgan-starrer Toonpur Ka Super Hero, slated for a December 24 release, will keep audiences laughing with its easy humour. Khurana and music director Anu Malik were in the city on Tuesday for the promotion of the film. There was also a special screening of the film at Gold Big Cinema,Kalyani Nagar, where the duo interacted with the audience and struck quite a cord with kids. The little ones were taken up by the songs. In fact, the director even asked kids to repeat the first stanza of the song Rubdoot Hari Rail five times without any mistake and the one who got it right posed for a picture with Khurana and Malik! When the controversy of one of the characters ‘Gappi‘ being based on Bappi Lahiri was mentioned,Khurana clarified,“The allegation made by Bappi Lahiri is baseless. All the characters in the film are the product of my own imagination and don’t relate to any real life individuals.” Keenly awaiting the response to the film,he adds,“Healthy entertainment for kids is the need of the hour.”

Be yourself
What is a more potent mixture than contemporary dance theater and a moral lesson on how to shed all pretence? Hrishikesh’s Centre of Contemporary Dance will be performing a ballet titled ‘To Simply Be’ today, starting 7.00 pm at YASHADA auditorium,Baner Road. This piece will be a combination of solos, duets and triads. The ultimate aim is to comment on how every being’s existence and interpretation of life and space is individualistic.
