With his unique voice and dedicated training regimen,Punes Hrishikesh Ranade, winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Maharashtracha Ajacha Awaaj sets his sights on Bollywood
If appreciation by connoisseurs is the yardstick of measuring talent, then Punes Hrishikesh Ranade fits the bill. In the recently-concluded mega finals of the show Zee Marathi IDEA Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Maharashtracha Ajacha Awaaj,Ranade was declared the winner amongst two other contestants Amruta Natu and Madhura Datar, both from Pune. The final took place at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch on July 7.
Already an established name in the music industry,Ranades entry into the musical show, especially after the humongous success of the earlier season of the show- Lil Champs, was surprising. The Lil Champs season had certainly risen the expectations from the show. But what made me take part was the fact that all the contestants for this following season were musical experts. While competing with experts was one exciting factor, being able to present your talent to audiences from across the state was an opportunity of a lifetime, says Ranade.
Appreciated by audiences from across the state who not only watched the show on the television but also conveyed their support through SMSs,Ranade was judged as the best performer by a panel of judges consisting of connoisseurs such as Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Suresh Wadkar. That was the best part of the show. Despite the fact that all the contestants were already well-established names in the music industry, simple comments from the judges helped us fine-tune our skills. It was during these sessions that I got a chance to polish my skills such as Swar,Laya, importance of lyrics in a song and so on, adds he.
Coming from a family of musicians and having started to learn music during his school days,Ranade took formal training in music from Pandit Vijay Koparkar and Shekhar Kumbhojkar. The credit of this success goes to the almighty and also to my parents. It is because of the guidance by my mother and father Pramod Ranade,a musician himself, that I could achieve this success, says he.
With special liking for Kirana and Mewathi gharana music, despite having received formal training in Indian Classical music,Ranades approach towards music is global and progressive. I personally want to be known for semi classical and melodious music. While I believe that a formal training in Indian Classical music is the foundation of singing, modern forms of music such as fusion are well accepted. We are fortunate to belong to an era that has a lucrative ambiance for all forms of music, smiles he.
The overwhelming win says Ranade is just the beginning. After this,I will be going to US for a 45-day musical tour where we will be presenting a programme titled- Black and White based on the old songs of the golden era of Hindi films. Post that,I plan to make a career in playback singing, he concludes.
