Mumbai designer Nirav Modi is holding his first jewellery exhibition in Pune
Apart from the matt carpet, everything else in the exhibition room of Pune Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre, seems to be glittering. It is the venue where Nirav Modi,a Mumbai-based jewellery designer is displaying his collection of a variety of diamond jewellery pieces.
Modi’s pieces are devoted to the minimalistic use of metal, which is done by heavy research and engineering the pieces in a way that brings focus to the diamonds instead of the metal work. The jewellery designer has been associated with the diamond industry for the past two decades.
The stunner at the exhibition is the neckpiece, earring and cocktail ring set from the Fluire Collection. Featuring a stellar collection of pears, marquises, rosecuts briolettes, arranged in delicate floral motifs, the jewellery seems ethereal. The clear glassiness of the pieces emphasizes the romance and magic of diamonds, which are more than often called a girl’s best friend. The use of metal in this piece is visible only through close observation, and once worn, the petals of the floral motif are flexible according to the movement of the wearer.
A rare feature at any diamond exhibition,Modi showcases a collection of pink diamond jewellery. A pair of glamorous hoops are crafted with alternating white and pink diamonds which are placed at the outer convex and the inner concave so the inner side of the hoop, which is visible from the front is studded with these glittering stones.
