(Credit: X/@MahaCricket)Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has appointed cricket coach and veteran Shaun Williams, as the Director of Cricket. Williams has previously been a coach to international teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
He also served as the Head Coach of the Maharashtra Cricket Team from 2008 to 2012. Under his leadership, Maharashtra won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2010. Additionally, under his leadership, the Maharashtra team reached the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals. Williams has also been a part of the coaching units during the Sheffield Shield competition in Australia.
A press release by Kamlesh Pisal Secretary, Maharashtra Cricket Association said that his appointment is not limited to in-depth team coaching and long-term development but will also focus on enhancing the professionalism of coaching programs and educating state-level coaches in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Cricket Association aims to implement strategic coaching programs designed by him, which will modernise training methodologies, improve technical expertise, and advance overall cricket administration in the state.
Speaking on this occasion, NCP(SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, President of Maharashtra Cricket Association, said, “Maharashtra Cricket Association has always remained committed to the continuous growth and excellence of Maharashtra Cricket. As part of this vision, we are proud to appoint Mr. Shaun Williams as the Director of Cricket. His track record with Maharashtra Cricket is highly impressive, and his international experience and expertise will greatly benefit the Maharashtra Cricket Team. Under his leadership, the team’s quality will be further reinforced and Maharashtra Cricket’s reputation will be strengthened both nationally and internationally. Additionally, the professional coaching programs established by him will empower state-level coaches by significantly enhancing their skills, which is critical for the long-term success of Maharashtra Cricket.”
