Science tour for city students

On Science day,which falls on February 28,‘Vishwa Scientific’,an organisation working towards familiarising science,will take city students on a science tour.

“Our concept is similar to that of state government’s ‘Pune Darshan’,which takes people to tourist destinations in the city. We want to take children to key scientific locations in a bid to increase their interest in science,” said Mayuresh Prabhune,convener,Vishwa Scientific,adding that they are planning to take schoolchildren to the Giant Meterwave Radio telescope (GMRT),IUCAA and the Indian Metereological Department. This tour coincides with the science exhibition organised by GMRT from February 28 to March 1.

The Vishwa Scientific will also organise several Satellite Clubs in city schools. “We will track all science institutions in the city and organise public outreach programmes over the next few months” Prabhune said. Those interested can contact Vishwa Scientific at mayuresh@kvindia.org
