Hockey Lovers and Rovers Academy blanked their respective opponents,as did Railway Police at the 2 nd Late Hussain Nabi Shaikh Memorial Hockey Tournament played at the Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Pimpri yesterday.
In the first match,Hockey Lovers beat Satara XI 2-0 thanks to a couple of quick goals from Aditya Ambedkar and Prasad Garsund. Ambedkar scored off a pass from Pranay Garsund in the 10 th minute,and Prasad converted a penalty corner in the 13 th minute with Ritesh Telangi providing the assist.
Rovers Academy narrowly edged out Shiloh Sports Club,with a goal from Akshay Jagtap being the only thing that separated the two sides. Jagtap scored in the 37 th minute thanks to a pass from Rohan Jawle to give his team a 1-0 victory. In the day’s last match,Railway Police thrashed MLI Pune in convincing fashion,beating them 5-0 to progress to the next round.
Rajesh Musale and Jitendra Chande both scored a brace each to give Railway Police the victory. In fact,they combined for the opening goal,with Chande providing the pass that helped Musale score in the 14 th minute. Chande then added a couple of his own in the 35 th and 38 th minute respectively,before Musale scored his second in the 49 th minute. Amar Kadam capped off the whitewash with a penalty corner conversion in the 41 st minute as Railway Police romped to victory. In tomorrows fixtures,Rovers Academy take on Metro Sports Club,while Sikh Regiment face Green Meadows. The final match of the day will see Railway Police take on Rakshak Sports Club.
