Lokayat,in association with Pune Shahar Molkarin Sangathana, has organised a rally to protest against the rapid swell in the number of cars in the city as well as the conversion of Fergusson College Road and and Jangli Maharaj Road into one-ways. September 22 is observed as the Car Free Day.

The rally will be held between Good Luck chowk and JM Road via FC Road from at 6.30 pm on Tuesday.

According to a press note issued by Lokayat: “The rapid growth of cars in the city, which is the main reason for transforming the FC and JM Roads into one-ways,is causing great inconvenience to people — mostly pedestrians and cyclists. It is a decision taken solely to make the roads convenient for cars. This move would only encourage more people to buy cars which will ultimately add to the congestion.
