Parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, are likely to receive rain in the next few days, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its weather bulletin on Friday.
It stated that Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and some other parts of the state would receive light to medium rain after February 10 as an anti-cyclone is set to form over the state.
However, Pune may witness an increase in minimum temperature by 2 degree Celsius till February 14, with slight haze and cloudy skies in the mornings from February 10, the IMD mentioned.
At present, the city is witnessing unusually high temperatures due to the presence of moisture which has blocked the entry of cold winds from the North. Pune’s maximum temperature is in the range of 34-35 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature is in the range of 14-15 degree Celsius, the IMD stated. The city can see some relief from the heat after February 14.
Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, north Maharashtra and Telangana are set to report light to medium rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Northern parts of the country is, at present, in the wave of Western Disturbance (WD), which has lowered the temperature in many places there. However, most parts of central India, including Maharashtra, have not benefitted from the cold waves due to the incursion of moisture in the air.
